The Magnetic Lasso Open an image that you would like to alter. Preferably something that you would like to cut an object out of. I chose this:
I want to take that beautiful Beemer out of that mundane background. So select the Magnetic Lasso Tool (L), hold down the lasso button in the tool bar to select the Magnetic Lasso. Before we begin we will go over the tool's options.
Start by clicking right in between your object and the background you want to erase. Drag the cursor along the outline of your object and you will see the magnetic lasso tool create points. If it makes a point you don't want, simply hit the backspace key to delete that point. If you want to create a point, usually when your outline makes a 45-90 degree turn, simply left click precisely where you want the point.
Alright, with some patience and accuracy we can get a selection around the whole car and then selection>inverse selection to select the entire background. Now hit the delete key. If there are some slivers of the background around the outline of your object go back and erase them.
When you are all done you have an image with a transparent background that you can put anywhere. Have fun : )
